Community groups benefit from Riverina Local Land Services funding

Riverina Local Land Services will distribute almost $200,000 of funding through the 2016-17 Community Grants program to local Landcare, community, farming and industry groups.

The Community Grants program is aimed at supporting community and industry groups to carry out on-ground, capacity building, educational and other activities with a natural resource management (NRM), sustainable landscapes and agricultural focus.

Riverina Local Land Services General Manager, Rob Kelly said the program provides funding support to implement a broad range of NRM projects that are beneficial to local areas.

"It was pleasing to have such a diverse number of applicants apply for the funding. It shows the strength in our communities across the region and how active they are in improving their natural resources.

“They are working together with Riverina Local Land Services, initiating and delivering projects that are benefiting their local area," said Mr Kelly.

The 2016-17 Community Grants program is funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme and Catchment Action NSW through Riverina Local Land Services.
